AN ACT TO NAME THE TRAINING AREA OF THE JOHN P. MULHERN JR. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS CENTER TO THE JAMES E. TURNER, III EDUCATIONAL CENTER.
WHEREAS, James E. “Jamie” Turner, III served as the Director of the Delaware Emergency Management Agency from 2002-2015 serving under Governors Ruth Ann Minner and Jack Markell; and
WHEREAS, his impact on the public safety community extends beyond his years as the Director of the Delaware Emergency Management Agency; and
WHEREAS, he served as the Executive Secretary for the Delaware Volunteer Firemen’s Association from 2000-2002; and
WHEREAS, he served as an Emergency Service Training Administrator at the Delaware State Fire School from 1976 -2000; and
WHEREAS, he served as a communications specialist with the Delaware State Police from 1969-1976; and
WHEREAS, he has served as a member of the Clayton Fire Company since 1966; and
WHEREAS, he has demonstrated an exemplary commitment to public service;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:
Section 1. The training area of the John P. Mulhern Jr. Emergency Management Operations Center in Smyrna is hereby named the “James E. Turner, III Educational Center”.
