HOUSE BILL NO. 405

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 16 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1. Amend Chapter 51, Title 16 of the Delaware Code by enacting as a new “§ 5110. Uniform Policy” to read as follows:

Ҥ 5110. Uniform policy.

All employees in any facility operated by the Department of Health and Social Services shall wear uniforms pursuant to a policy developed by the Secretary within one (1) year of enactment in order to designate them as staff. This shall be done to enhance patient safety.”.

Section 2. This Act shall take effect upon funding by the Legislature.

SYNOPSIS

This Bill requires the Secretary of DHSS to implement a mandatory uniform policy for all staff within one year to help delineate the staff members from patients for safety measures.
