SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 28 |
COMMENDING THE 2001 EAGLE SCOUTS FOR HAVING ATTAINED THE HIGHEST RANK ONE CAN EARN IN THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA |
WHEREAS, only two percent of the young men who join the Boy Scouts become Eagle Scouts; and
WHEREAS, to earn this distinct honor, a young man must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills, as well as advance through the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, Star, and Life;
WHEREAS, to qualify for Eagle Scout, a young man must earn twenty-one merit badges, including First Aid, Camping, Safety, Family Life, Communications, Environmental Science, Personal Management, Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, and Citizenship in the World; and
WHEREAS, we recognize that when a young man becomes an Eagle Scout, the achievement carries with it a special significance, not only in Scouting, but also as he enters higher education, business or industry, and community service; and
WHEREAS, in 1969, the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award was established to acknowledge Eagle Scouts who have excelled in business, a profession, or service to their country. Men such as The Honorable Lamar Alexander, The Honorable William Bradley, The Honorable Gerald Ford, The Honorable Sam Nunn, Neil Armstrong, Captain James Lovell, Harrison Salisbury and Steven Spielberg serve as role models for these new Eagle Scouts; and
WHEREAS, the following young men have received the Distinguished Award of 2001 Eagle Scout:

NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the members of the Senate of the 141st General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the 2001 Eagle Scouts present with us today are hereby extended congratulations on attaining the highest award in the world of Scouting, and our best wishes in their respective future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon passage of this Resolution, suitably prepared copies be given to each Eagle Scout.
