SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 11

PROCLAIMING APRIL 22, 2021 AS "STAND AGAINST RACISM DAY" IN DELAWARE.

WHEREAS, all residents regardless of race, creed, or ethnicity deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, compassion, and justice; and

WHEREAS, Delaware residents value initiatives that will end race-based disparities and make the world a more equitable, inclusive, and dignified place for all; and

WHEREAS, racism is a public health crisis that requires investment in resources including public safety and social support services, safe and affordable housing, access to quality education, and environments free of contamination; and

WHEREAS, the YWCA has created an annual “Stand Against Racism” campaign to help build community among those who work for the cause of racial justice and further raise awareness of the negative impacts of institutional and structural racism; and

WHEREAS, the YWCA is recognized for its work to support the Delaware community and its mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities.

NOW THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 151 st General Assembly of the State of Delaware that April 22, 2021 is proclaimed “Stand Against Racism Day” in Delaware.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all Delawareans are urged to support the mission of the YWCA’s Stand Against Racism campaign by advocating for and supporting their communities in a meaningful way.

SYNOPSIS

This Resolution declares April 22, 2021 as "Stand Against Racism Day" in Delaware.
